Finances After Graduation for
Finances for Engineers After Graduation

Your crash course in adulting your money after graduation.

Find out what you need to know to control and manage your money like an engineer after you graduate. The presentation will be focused on practical applications - but backed by math and actuarial science.

The agenda includes:

  • Financial Planning Pyramid (order of operations).
  • How financial companies view your paycheque.
  • Applying engineering rigour to your paycheque.
  • Protecting your finances and a shiny offer from one of the big banks.
  • How to invest like an actuary.

Our presenter, Glenn Cooke is known professionally as 'The Term Guy', a professional insurance broker who works primarily with engineers and STEM professionals - but you may know him better as the Fishing With Nerds guy on Reddit.  In the last 10 years he's introduced about 1000 UW students to the great Canadian wilderness through fishing, hunting, back country camping, and foraging trips.  Barb will also be attending - her butter tarts are famous with students, we'll see if we can convince her to do some baking and maybe bring some along :).

We'll be bringing pizza and drinks for everyone, so registration is required. Registration is restricted to University of Waterloo engineering undergrad or masters students in their final year of school.
